My husband turned thirty years old yesterday. That is monumental for someone who grew up in the bad part of town, watching his friends be shot, expecting to never see past twenty-four.
On Wednesday, Selah and I whisked him away on a surprise trip back home to see his (adopted) family. Yesterday evening we took him out to eat and surprising him at dinner were his Covenant friends and others, who flew in that day. This evening, his family hosted a pool party for him and his friends, and surprising him at the party were all of his extended family members who flew or drove in from various states.
It was important to everyone to let him know that this little boy who seemed to have been forgotten and rejected as a child, was never forgotten or rejected by God. In fact, he has grown to be a man of influence, an over-comer because of Christ, and one whom God is working through to fulfill His good and wonderful purposes.
