Television Whiplash

Television Whiplash: (noun, English) - The occurrence of moving from one extreme emotional TV situation to another extreme emotional TV situation simply by changing channels or by the interruption of a TV ad.

Example: You're sitting there on the couch in a puddle of tears, catching your breath, having just finished Seven Pounds, reveling in the messy mystery of this person's miserable, incredible, heart breaking, astounding life--when your husband suddenly turns the channel to the last quarter of one of the national championship basketball games and begins cheering for one team or the other, explaining just how amazing the score is.
